What will the Royal Title be for Meghan Markle?
As the royal wedding approaches, speculation as to what Meghan's title will be called. Is she going to be a "princess"? Well....maybe.
Her future of noble ranking mostly depends on the title Queen Elizabeth II give both she and Harry on their May wedding day. Meghan will not ever be known as Princess Meghan because she is not of royal birth.
It is most likely that Queen Elizabeth will dub Harry a duke, like William, and Markle a duchess.
Many royal observers think the queen will make the newlyweds the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, one of the few remaining "dukedoms" that is available. In that case, Markle would become Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex.
That is similar to what happened to Kate Middleton when she married Prince William in 2011. The queen made the couple the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Harry and William's mother, Diana, was widely known as Princess Diana, but that was never her formal title. She was the Princess of Wales by virtue of her eventually unsuccessful marriage to Charles, the Prince of Wales.
So in keeping with tradition, as Queen Elizabeth does, Markle will "technically" remain a princess by marriage - even if she becomes a duchess - because Harry will still be a prince.
Prince Harry and Meghan hope to start a family in the future but also say, one step at a time when asked.
The Engagement Ring
Meghan Markle's engagement ring includes two diamonds that belonged to Princess Diana. The stones are mounted on a band of gold, and the ring was made by Cleave and Company, official jewelers to Queen Elizabeth II.
Who is Meghan Markle?
Markle, best known for her role as an ambitious paralegal in the hit U.S. legal drama "Suits," surprised many when she shared her feelings for Harry in a September cover story for Vanity Fair. Asked about the media frenzy surrounding their courtship, the 36-year-old said: "At the end of the day I think it's really simple ... we're two people who are really happy and in love."
Markle's Vanity Fair interview broke new ground. It is unusual for a royal love interest to speak so publicly - and candidly - before becoming engaged.
British Royalty Marrying an American
It wouldn't be the first time that a British royal has married an American or a divorcee. In 1936, Edward VIII famously abdicated after he was forced to choose between the monarchy and his relationship with twice-divorced American socialite Wallis Simpson.
Her mother is a 61-year-old social worker yoga instructor who live in Los Angeles named Doria Ragland. She divorced Meghan's father when Meghan was six. Surprise....Doria, Meghan Markel's mother is black.
You can try to friend her on facebook but I don't know if she'll accept your request. View Doria Ragland's facebook page.
Meghan is divorced. she was married previously to Trevor Engleson in 2011 before they divorced two years later. Trevor has an interesting Facebook page, much more interesting than Doria's.
